Boxing Day

I'm not sure what Boxing Day celebrates or what the significance is, but I'm guessing Andrew's decided to celebrate it a little early...

Oh, I can't resist... here's another of the cutie...

New Moon :-)

Earlier this week we all went to New Moon! Yay! I waited until my sister Lollie came in town - It's much more fun to watch the movie with a fellow Twilight fan. We also realized how great our husbands are when they agreed to go with us!! Thankfully we went to a matinee while school was still in session, so there weren't any crazy 13 - year olds.

Can you tell who the real movie stars are? I know, it may be hard - they look
pretty much the same...

We had a great time! If you haven't seen it yet - go see it. It's a lot better than the first one! Oh yeah, I think I'm still Team Edward... it was tempting to go Team Jacob... but I held out strong for Edward.

Strong Legs Run, So Weak Ones May Walk...

This past weekend Andrew and I participated in the Strong Legs Run Charity event. All the donations went towards Children's Health Care of Atlanta. It's a wonderful family of hospitals. It was fun to join my sister, Rachel (along with her kids Gavin & Mikayla) and her mother-in-law, Kathy. Rachel works in the ER at that hospital - so it was fun to be a part of the Emergency Department team for the race.

Before the race there were a lot of free events for the kids. Andrew's still a little young, but I'm sure he'll have a blast in the upcoming years. This balloon artist was great!! I was pretty impressed, and by the looks on Rachel, Kayla, and Gavin's faces - I think they were pretty intrigued.

Andrew and I after the race. We only did the 2K this year - because my niece Mikayla was a participant! Yep! She ran/walked the whole way!! We finished in about 18 minutes- not to shabby for a 4 year old! I think I've twisted Morgan's arm (and Rachel to her hubby, Jeremy) to join us next year.

w
Poor Gavin was a grump the whole day. We just couldn't figure out what his deal was. It was only after he wolfed down two bananas did we figure out that he was one hungry grumpy little boy. Sorry Gav!

I had to throw this photo in too - I have to brag about the beanie I made him - what a cute little teddy bear!

This event had me thinking about how grateful I am to have a happy and healthy child. Along with the race, a local radio station was doing a phone-a-thon benefiting the same hospital. They shared many tear jerking stories about children who have gone through these hospitals for a myriad of issues. I need to be more thankful for the health that we have. I couldn't imagine having Andrew go through the trials that so many children go through with their health. I hope and pray that his health (and happiness) continues!

And another shout out to my sis, Rachel. I couldn't imagine the blessing of going to work to help save children's health! What a job! I think being a Miracle Maker (aka nurse) would be a great thing to be when I grow up :-)

Happy Birthday, Happy Boy.

Tuesday was Andrew's first birthday. We had a fun day! We went to the park and had a little birthday party with my parents. Here are a few picks from his big day.

Can you see those little teeth coming in??

Andrew loves to swing!!

It was a treat to have dad with us!!

It's crazy to think that a year ago he was just being born! And here I am - with him on a swing set. Time flies.

That evening Andrew had fun opening up some gifts.

He had a BLAST eating his cake....

Overall - we had a great day!

Drab to Fab!

Ok, how many thousand of people have this office chair? You know, the $8 one from Walmart....

BUT how many people have an office chair that looks like this? Um, one... that'll be me.

This took me literally about 15 minutes. I think that you all should take over your Walmart chairs and dress them up!

Birthday Festivities

Although Andrew's birthday is just around the corner - we went ahead and had our big family celebration while we had more of our family in town. It was a treat to have the Georgia crew plus Laura, Chris, Uncle Larry and Aunt Jane! I had a great time making Andrew's cake and had a great time watching him eat it! Here are some pictures...

His cake!! I'm so proud!

The whole family (including Andrew's best pal - Banana's the bear.... the inspiration for the cake!)

At first, he wasn't too sure about it!

Then he warmed up...

He loved it! He later had some ice cream - and loved it even more!!

And true to form, he loved the packaging just as much as the presents!

I've graduated!

From this....

To this!

YEAH! No more diaper bag!!

My diaper bag has been getting too big and bulky - I hardly ever used the items inside - so I thought that I would treat my self to a purse... large albeit, but a purse.

Yeah for purses!

That's right. I saved $105.87 or 86%.

Running Bug

Many of you know that I've started running lately. I'm still on the 5K stage, but I'm really enjoying it. I ran one in August and I'm doing another one in October. I'm hoping to do a 10K next spring/summer. I was just looking at someones blog and I found out that there is a half marathon in Disney World. How cool is that?

So, if I ever get to the point that I could or would want to run a 1/2 marathon (come on, 13 miles is really really long) I'm going to totally want to do that one.

Anyone with me?? :-)

Our little Coug

We were SO happy with the outcome of last night's BYU game - LOVED IT! We even had neighbors come over right after the game and chit chatted about it until midnight!

I remember last year on the day we brought Andrew home from the hospital - the Cougs were playing. We dressed Andrew all up in his Cougar blue. When this year rolled around - Aunt Lollie came to the rescue with some larger sized BYU gear for the little guy. My oh my! How's he's grown!!

What d'ya have?

In Athens, there are SO many homegrown restaurants - simply too many to try. Since Saturday was in all intensive purposes the beginning of College Football (yeah!) I thought it would be fun to go and have lunch at The Varsity.

The Varsity is this old place that is famous in Atlanta (and I guess Athens too.) When you place your order they first ask you "What d'ya have... What d'ya have..." You tell them your order then the cashier yells it back to the kitchen in some language you've never heard before. Something about naked dogs... onions... straws.... nevertheless, we received our order perfectly. It was a fun outing. We found out that Andrew LOVES Vanilla Milkshakes (come one, who wouldn't?) We'd give him a bit, he'd swallow it, get a BIG smile and giggle! So cute. Anyways, here are a few photos documenting our first outing as a family to The Varsity.

P.S. On another note- I think we were the only ones out in Athens with non-UGA apparel on. We were happy to show our support to our BYU Cougs! But, I think we should think twice when the team is in town. We don't want to get hurt ;-).

Already?

I knew that it was common for children to hide their vegetables from their plate to get out of eating them...

I guess babies do too

Just Give In!

The poor little guy just would not fall asleep this afternoon. This is when he finally gave in to sleep.... at dinner time.

This was at 6pm. We were sure that if we put him to bed then that he would wake up at some odd hour during the night and be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed. But he must have been mighty tired - he slept until 7am!!

Back to School...

Watch out UGA - Here comes Morgan!

It's here. Morgan's starting his PhD. Up to this point, Morgan has been busy with orientations and meetings. He said he already felt a little overwhelmed - even before school started! We know that he'll do well - he's very studious. (A trait that I adore in him...)

Andrew was really excited for Morgan to start school - look at that smile! He's just so proud of his daddy.

Since Morgan won't be home at dinner time most days (sad!), We've decided that we are going to try really hard to have breakfast together as a family. It's been fun so far. Isn't this egg sandwich too cute?

After breakfast we proceed to the window so Andrew and I can see daddy off. I think that this will be a fun tradition to have!

So, now I've entered back into real life. Being home with Andrew and not seeing Morgan/dad until late a night. (thankfully there are a lot of other girls in the ward with similar situations!) Even though we'll miss him, we know that this is a sacrifice that we must make. We're really proud of Morgan/daddy and all that he is doing to earn this next step in his education.
