Domesticality

Yes, I'm aware that 'domesticality' is not a word. But to me... it is!

To me, I feel most domestic when I dawn and apron and make "Morgan's Meal." This meal, that's been dubbed by his mother, consists of roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, peas, squash, and rolls... and made from scratch gravy (YUM). Mongan LOVES this meal.... so much that he proceeded wash every last dish after the meal was done today. (and there was a lot)

I still get the heebie geebies when I have to put my hand into Ms. Chicken and pull out all the "innards." I'm not sure if I'll ever get over that... but that's ok. But the end result makes me happy every time. I feel like I'm a part of a Norman Rockwell photo. Hello Domesticality.

Oh, I just found this photo.... I'm seriously going to do this the next time I make a chicken.  Too funny!

New lamp :-)

I've been doing a lot more work at my desk in the evenings... and quickly realized that I needed/wanted a lamp. Since we're poor students (and loving it... most of the time) I thought that I'd buy a thrifted lamp and spruce it up. I was lucky to find a smaller lamp for just a buck, talk about a deal. I brought it home and spray painted it with some paint I already had and then used my Silhouette to cut those cute owls to go around the lamp... I'm majorly in love with owls (I can thank my Great-Grandma for that) so, I'm totally in love with it. I've been oodling over this, this, and this lamp and this lamp for a while... but remember, we're still poor students, ha. By the way.... I'm so happy with how "mainstream" owls are now. I've liked them for a long time and am so happy that they are "in" now! Anyways, here's some pics of the transformation.... (take note of the owl eyes... they are looking all around!)

Funny note.... while the paint was drying I seriously considered making my own lampshade... um - don't try it. I googled directions and gathered some wire hangers to make it happen... yeah - total fail. Sorry, no pics of that!

Snow Day!

Here in Athens we got close to 9-10 inches of snow over Sunday night. Anywhere up north, that would just be a common winter night. Here - everything shuts down. After the snow ended - we got close to a 1/2 of ice - southerners only want ice in their drinks (and a lot of it) but NOT on the ground, trees, power lines, etc. So, needless to say - the roads are treacherous, and EVERYTHING is shut down. Morgan was happy to have his Winter break extended a few days. I imagine that there will be school tomorrow, but I'm not betting on it.

So, while we were stuck at home - we decided to head out with Andrew. Let me tell you - that boy LOVES snow. I can definitely tell that their is a "Mainer" in him. When Andrew woke up (at 6am, mind you) he went straight to the window and said "Uh-oh!" Then followed by a long Wwwoooowww. (but imagine a Furby said it... remember those?) At 8:30 he and I headed out to play in the snow before the ice came. It was so powdery and so fun. Andrew's favorite activity consisted of...

Yep, nose dives right into the snow. He would laugh and laugh... then get right back up and do it again. After his non-existant nap (too excited about playing outside) we headed out with Morgan. Andrew LOVES Morgan, and tries to copy everything he does. Andrew was in heaven having Morg out there. He had fun hitting icicles, "throwing" snow balls, being dropped into the snow and just having an overall great time out side.

Soon after we came in from playing outside Andrew soon discovered the magic napping spot on the LoveSac...

Talk about a perfect ending to a perfect day.

**Edit** UGA is Closed tomorrow. Another day at home with Morgan! Yeah!

One last Christmas Post...

So... we know that Mary and Joseph went to Bethleham along back of their trusty donkey. Andrew seems to believe that they went on a School Bus...

Mo & Mini Mo

Andrew has been Morgan's shadow for the past few weeks. I'm not sure what he (or Morgan) are going to do when school starts back up on Monday. I think it's cute watching Andrew follow Morgan around everywhere. I'm so glad he's crazy about his dad.

New Years Day Kiss...

Morgan may have been my New Year's Eve kiss... but Andrew was my New Year's Day kiss. Man, do I love that little boy!

Also, I have to warn you --- I've become a photo taking fool. I'm LOVING my Canon (and photoshop!) I'm hoping to get a new lens very soon with my Christmas money. Yeah! 50mm here I come!

We celebrated our anniversary late by going to a Boston Bruins Hockey game. Now, I was pretty sure that I'd enjoy the hockey game alright.... I was in for a surprise! I LOVED it. We had EXCELLENT seats. The hockey game was complete with a Wedding. The first one ever done at a Thrashers game. It was pretty interesting.
Even though the Bruins lost (the Trashers had a ton of lucky saves) we went all the way to overtime and ended with Slapshots. Morgan was especially happy that there were two fights,  haha. 
Overall, we had a great night. It was nice getting out with just the two of us.

Christmas Eve

This year's Christmas Eve was a smaller one. We had Rachel and her family, my parents, and grandparents all together. We enjoyed it thoroughly though! It was nice to spend the evening eating (yum), singing Christmas Carols (LOTS of Jingle Bells), having a toddler focused Christmas Program (my mom went over the symbols of Christmas and Mikayla shared the story of the Nativity), and opening some presents (which Andrew totally got into!). The kids all had a great time.

It was so nice to hear Mikayla tell the story of the Nativity. She's so bright and sweet. It was nice to have it more "toddler approved" this year. I know they are young, but I know they all got something out of it. I hope that all of you had a great Christmas. I know we did!
